Another case of police excesses surfaces Blogging Sole

HARIPUR:

After Peshawar, a case of police excesses emerged in Haripur, where a senior police officer allegedly beat up a gas station attendant for refusing to serve his son.

A report submitted to the District Police Officer’s Office (DPO0) said that additional son of SHO SI Muhammad Nawaz had visited a fuel station in Batrassi area of Haripur to get fuel for his motorcycle . Because he was not wearing a mask or helmet, the clerk on duty refused to provide him with service in accordance with a campaign by the district police.

At that time, another SHO Nawaz and his driver arrived at the gas station where they beat up the workers. Nawaz’s driver also allegedly grabbed cash from the cashier’s pocket and then fled.

The gas station owner and workers then approached the DPO and asked him to intervene. The DPO took notice of the incident, suspended Nawaz and launched an investigation.

The report further showed that the other SHO was previously convicted of framing a man in a false case and allegedly took a bribe to put the case aside.
