Todd Greenberg has been announced as the new chief executive of Cricket Australia to succeed Nick Hockley when he leaves the role at the end of the summer.
Greenberg, current CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association and former CEO of the National Rugby League, had long been the favorite to replace Hockley.
He has strong relationships with players due to his current role, but he has also played first grade cricket in New South Wales. His experience as CEO of the NRL and Managing Director of Stadium Australia has given him extensive experience in managing broadcast partners, sponsors, stadiums and live events.
He was a key player in the last MoU signed between the CA and ACA and also toured Pakistan in 2022 alongside Hockley when Australia returned there to play international cricket in the country for the first time since 1998.
Board President Mike Baird was delighted with the appointment.
“I am delighted that Todd Greenberg is joining Cricket Australia as CEO,” Baird said.
“Todd will bring to the role enormous experience gained from his experience leading the National Rugby League and his current role as CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, as well as his experience managing clubs and stadiums.
“He is also a recognized driver of business growth and innovation, such as State of Origin integration in Melbourne and the introduction of the NRLW.
“We are entering a period of great opportunity and the CA Recruitment Committee and Board have been extremely impressed by Todd’s passion for cricket and his vision to build on the achievements of recent years and continue the growth of the game.
“I would like to thank Nick Hockley who will leave the game in a position of great strength at the end of the season with important foundations including our broadcast rights agreement, our memorandum of understanding and our seven-year content strategy in place.”
Greenberg said he was excited to take on the new role as head of CA administration after beating a field of Australian and overseas candidates.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to take on this hugely important role in Australian sport and continue my involvement in a game that I have loved since I was a child.” » said Greenberg.
“This is an extremely exciting time for cricket, with the game’s rapid growth across the world creating fantastic opportunities, while also presenting challenges to ensure Australian cricket maintains its position at the top of the game.
“Thanks to the work of the current administration, the game has solid fundamentals. I want to make sure we build on this momentum to ensure Australian cricket continues to thrive – from local parks to the country’s biggest stadiums.
“I am grateful to all members of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, where we have formed positive and productive partnerships across the game, and I look forward to continuing and enriching these relationships for the betterment of cricket. “
