Following the apparent failure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) “do or die” protest movement, the party’s incarcerated founder Imran Khan has warned the government to launch a “civil disobedience” movement if its Demands, including the judicial investigation into the crackdown against party supporters, are not met.

Speaking to Asad Qaiser. .

The committee, he declared, would negotiate with the federal government on two points: the release of “political prisoners” to be tried and the constitution of a judicial commission responsible for investigating the events of May 9, 2023 and a nighttime repression against PTI demonstrators. on November 26.

“If these two demands are not accepted, a civil disobedience movement will be launched from December 14,” said the imprisoned prime minister, adding that the government would be responsible for the results of this movement.

The former ruling party’s high-profile protest in Islamabad, aimed at securing the release of the PTI founder, who has been imprisoned for over a year, culminated in the party’s hasty withdrawal following a government crackdown on protesters at midnight.

The party founded by Imran has since claimed that at least 12 of its employees were killed and 1,000 arrested. However, the government categorically denied using live ammunition against protesters and said four law enforcement officers, including three Rangers and a police officer, were martyred during the protest.

Additionally, Imran — in his message today — also announced a “mass rally” in Peshawar on December 13 to “pay homage to the martyrs” who he said were killed during the PTI protest in Islamabad .

He claimed that hundreds of PTI workers were “still missing”, urging the Supreme Court to take cognizance of these incidents and “play its constitutional role”.

“We have approached the Supreme Court, Lahore and Islamabad high courts for serious human rights violations, but no action has been taken,” he added.
