RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Siddiqui Farooq breathed his last on Sunday.
According to family sources, the veteran politician was suffering from a heart condition.
During his political career, Farooq served as press secretary to three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, head of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and information secretary of the PML-N.
His funeral prayers will be held at H-11 cemetery in Islamabad at 11 am on Monday (tomorrow).
Reacting to the grim news, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the demise of the late PML-N leader.
Offering condolences to his family, the prime minister said the PML-N had lost a sincere politician and his services to the party would always be remembered.
Meanwhile, PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui paid tribute to Farooq, calling him a strong-minded and loyal man who showed exemplary courage in difficult times and refused to become a witness against Nawaz.
Terming his services to democracy as unforgettable, the senator said Farooq’s death was a great loss to journalism and politics.
