Security forces killed 13 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Sararogha area of ​​South Waziristan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

The operation, carried out by Pakistani troops based on intelligence reports, successfully targeted the location of the terrorists, the military’s media wing said.

The ISPR said the khwarij were allegedly involved in many terrorist activities, including attacks on security forces and killing of innocent civilians.

Following the operation, a disinfection effort is underway in the area to ensure any remaining militants are eliminated.

“Pakistan security forces remain committed to eradicating the threat of terrorism and maintaining peace and stability in the region,” the statement added.

Earlier on December 21, 16 brave soldiers of Pakistan security forces embraced martyrdom, while eight militants were neutralized in a fierce exchange of fire in Makeen district of South Waziristan, according to a statement from the ‘Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to military media, the clash occurred on the night of December 20-21, when a group of militants attempted to attack a security checkpoint.

The ISPR said the soldiers effectively thwarted the attempt, successfully eliminating eight militants. Despite their heroic efforts, 16 soldiers lost their lives in the line of duty.
