Thieves preferred 125cc bikes, thieves 70cc in 2024, data shows Blogging Sole

The year 2024 fared comparatively better than 2023 when it came to vehicle thefts and thefts in Karachi, as 10,000 fewer vehicles were snatched or stolen, News reported.

Data on motorcycles stolen and snatched in 2024 reveals an intriguing trend: When it comes to kidnappings, thieves preferred 125 cc motorcycles, while motorcycle thieves mainly preferred to steal 70 cc motorcycles.

Information provided by Deputy Chief Operations Officer Shabbar Malik of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) showed that 10,000 fewer vehicles were stolen or snatched in Karachi in 2024 compared to 2023.

According to the CPLC register, 28,561 motorcycles and cars were stolen or snatched in 2022. In 2023, this number decreased slightly to 28,087. Surprisingly, the number of stolen and stolen vehicles in 2024 is 18,213, i.e. about 10,000 fewer than the previous two years.

According to an analytical report, 2,207 125cc motorcycles were stolen by thieves in 2024, while 8,515 70cc motorcycles were stolen. During the year, a total of 1,123 70cc motorcycles were seized. In 2024, thieves in a coastal area snatched 778 motorcycles of a specific 110cc category. Engines of 110 cc motorcycles are used in boats which are in high demand in the coastal area of ​​Balochistan.
