QUETTA: At least four people were killed and 32 others injured after an explosion rocked Balochistan’s Turbat town on Saturday, police said.

According to law enforcement, five injured in the explosion are in critical condition. However, the nature of the explosion has not yet been determined.

A video surveillance image obtained by Geo News showed that several vehicles were traveling on the road and suddenly a huge flame covered a moving passenger bus following the explosion.

Police Senior Superintendent for Serious Crime Zohaib Mohsin was also injured in the blast, police said. Six members of his family were also injured in the explosion.

According to police, Mohsin and his family were passing through the area when the blast occurred.

According to security forces, the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.

The sources said the dead were identified as Noor Khan, Abdul Wahab, Ijaz and Liaquat Ali. The four civilians martyred in the attack belonged to different parts of Balochistan.

According to insiders, the attack proves that the banned organization targets civilians for nefarious purposes. “The banned BLA has martyred more than 100 innocent Baloch civilians in one year,” security sources said.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the incident, expressing sadness over the loss of lives caused by the blast.

The head of state prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and promised that operations would continue until the terrorist threat was completely eradicated.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condoled the blast and prayed for those who lost their lives. “The terrorists will fail to achieve their nefarious goals,” the Prime Minister said.

He said the government and security forces were actively working against terrorists, adding that they were determined to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah strongly condemned the Turbat blast, calling the act inhumane and despicable, according to a spokesperson for the top official.

The chief minister said targeting innocent people was a cruel and barbaric act and reiterated that terrorists would never succeed in achieving their malicious goals.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also condemned the Turbat blast, saying terrorists are enemies of the lives of innocent citizens.
