The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new service in Karachi city, aiming to provide significant convenience to citizens.
According to officials, this initiative aims to save residents from the hassle of long waits and queues.
The new service will begin on Monday, allowing citizens to benefit from, among other services, the issuance and renewal of national identity cards, Express News reported.
Officials said that initially three bikers would operate in Karachi, while Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas would have one bike each for the service. Ten more bikes will be added to the NADRA motorcycle fleet in the coming days.
Regarding the service, officials explained that representatives will be equipped with backpacks containing the required processing equipment. Citizens opting for the doorstep service will be charged an additional fee of Rs 1,000, which includes Rs 825 for the service and Rs 175 for delivery charges.
Previously, NADRA decided to shut down its website and launch a mobile application instead.
Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi announced at a workshop that NADRA’s Pak ID website would be closed and all services would be provided through the mobile application. Fraudulent elements have been involved in creating false identity documents through fake websites, obtaining personal information about citizens and attempting to misuse it.
A few weeks ago, 4-hour passport counters were installed at NADRA Mega Centers nationwide.
As per the orders of Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, the Passport Department has established 10 passport processing counters at NADRA Mega Centers in Nazimabad areas and Karachi location, particularly at Siemens Chowrangi. Citizens can now benefit from services at these counters 24 hours a day.
