Former PPP MP and his wife, among others, injured in “robbery attempt” Blogging Sole

SUKKUR: Four people, including former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MP Mir Ghalib Khan Domki, his wife and seven-year-old grandson were injured in an attempted robbery near the road on Sunday. Faizu Laro in Shikarpur district of Sindh.

According to the former lawmaker, around 15-20 thieves intercepted their vehicle near a picket manned by Khanpur police station personnel.

However, the driver did not stop the vehicle at which the thieves began shooting. Domki, his wife, his grandson Ali Nawaz Khan Domki and guard Nadir Domki were shot and injured while two other guards – identified as Sallar Domki and Mehar Ali Domki – were killed.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shikarpur Shahzaib Chachar confirmed the incident, saying that the former lawmaker – who is also the Mukkaddim chief of the Giloee clan of the Domki tribe – along with his family members were traveling to Bakhshapur from Sukkur.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Sukkur. SSP Chachar said police sealed the exit and entry routes to arrest the suspects.

The police officer said that retaliatory firing by Domki guards killed Nadir Mirani, a much-wanted criminal with a capital of Rs 1 million.

Zain-ul-Abideen, Domki’s nephew, said the former lawmaker’s situation was out of danger.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah sought a report from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon.

He prayed for Domki’s speedy recovery and expressed deep regret for the loss of lives. The chief minister also ordered an inquiry into the incident and action against those responsible.
