Islamabad: the Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb assured that “transparency” would be ensured in the supply of 1,010 vehicles for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) after the Permanent Senatorial Committee for Finance and Exhorted Revenues to cancel the adequacy .

“The purchase of vehicles for FBR managers is an important requirement … They cannot simply sit in the offices and continue their work,” said the minister in response to a letter from the Senate president, the Senator Senator Saleem Mandviwalla.

In a letter dated January 22, Senator Mandviwalla underlined the apprehensions concerning the supply process, stressing that the calendar and the extent of such an acquisition raised “considerable doubts about the transparency and integrity of the process “which required an additional review.

The tax authority published a letter of intent on January 13 for purchases of 6 billion rupees. The first phase will see 500 vehicles delivered, with a prior payment of RS3 billion already made.

The vehicle delivery calendar is planned in phases, from 75 units in January, followed by 200 in February and 225 in March. The second phase will include 250 vehicles in April and the 260 final in May.

Mandviwalla declared in the letter that the members of the committee, during a recent meeting, underlined the deliberate exclusion of competitors in the tender process, raising suspicions of poor management and intention of Mala Fide .

The supply, estimated at the scope and expenses, has been criticized for having compromised the principles of transparency and equity – fundamental principles of government supply policies.

The letter asked that the order form issued to the general income of Pakistan (AGPR) be canceled and the payment must be interrupted.

Responding to the reserves, the Minister of Finance said that FBR officials should go to the field to improve tax collection.

Aurangzeb noted that all companies supplying vehicles were based in Pakistan, ensuring that no business would be mistreated in the supply process.
