The National Highway Authority (NHA) of Pakistan has officially announced the implementation of a 100% M-Tag policy on all the country’s highways, from today, on February 1, 2025.
According to the official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the NHA has also decided to charge additional costs of vehicles without M-Tags.
According to the notification of the NHA, vehicles with low sales or those which use cash tolls will lead to additional costs of 25% on the total tax, with an additional minimum amount of RS50.
Previously, in December 2021, the NHA announced a deadline for the full implementation of the M-TAG system, declaring that vehicles without M-Tags would no longer be authorized to go through the Plazas motorway.
However, despite this, the cash cups remained available on the highways, allowing vehicles without M-Tags to pay the same toll costs as users of M-TAG.
The complete implementation of M-TAG policy aims to rationalize the toll collection process and encourage the use of electronic beacons for a more efficient and faster trip through the Pakistan motorway network.
