Rawalpindi: the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, wrote a letter to the chief of staff of the army (COAS), Asim Munnir, asking him to change policy, said on Monday on Monday His lawyer Faisal Chaudhry.
Addressing the media outside the Adiala prison in Rawalpindi, where Khan is imprisoned, Chaudhry said: “Imran Khan, as an old Prime Minister and Supremo of the Party, wrote a six -point letter to the chief of the army. “
The ousted Prime Minister, who was withdrawn from power by a parliamentary vote in 2022, expressed his solidarity with the military in his fight against terrorism, recognizing the sacrifices made by the soldiers, said Chaudhry.
Khan, according to the lawyer, underlined the need for the whole nation to stand with the armed forces.
According to Charthry, the first point of the letter deals with “fraudulent elections” and the alleged promotion of money launders. The second point deals with the impact of the 26th constitutional amendment on judicial independence and the rule of law. Khan also referred to the verdict of the al-Qadir trust case in the letter.
The third point criticizes the law on the prevention of electronic crimes (PECA), declaring that it was armed to suppress dissent and to repress social media.
The fourth point highlights the cases of accusations of terrorism, raids and the use of force against the workers of the PTI. Khan also wrote that journalists threats damage the reputation of the army.
The fifth point concerns the operations of intelligence agencies, while the end point focuses on the economy.
Khan said that the outgoing government had weakened the economy by artificially controlling the value of the rupee.
He also raised concerns about low investments and closings on the Internet.
Chaudhry added that Khan urged the army chief to reconsider policies and called for the formation of a judicial commission.
In addition, the president of the PTI, the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, rejected the notion of “change of policy” after the letter to the chief of the army, saying that Imran had written the letter as a former first minister.
In the letter, he said, Imran stressed the “need to reassess policies”, adding that the text of the letter will be made public today.
Citing the founder of the PTI, Barrister Gohar said that his party did not want chaos to be that “the Pakistani army is ours”.
The letter comes for weeks after the leaders of the PTI – the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, and the president of PTI, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan – met the army leader, the president of the party saying that they had discussed the overall security situation.
He is also important when the former ruling party ended his negotiations with the government led by PML -N last month, in which the PTI had demanded two things – the formation of judicial commissions on events which occurred on May 9, 2023 and November 24 -27 as well as the release of “all political prisoners”, including Khan.
In December of last year, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant-General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said that no desire for the power of political leader should be more important than Pakistan’s interests .
The comments of the ISPR spokesperson came in response to a question about the so-called stolen door discussions between the PTI and the establishment.
“All political parties and leaders are respectable for us. No individual, his policy and his desire to be able are above Pakistan,” he said during a press briefing.
