Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has rejected the possibility of United States pressure for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, declaring that the relationship between Pakistan and the United States is wider than any individual, Party or incident.
Addressing a private news channel on Monday, AIF stressed that Pakistani relations are not limited to specific events or personalities.
His remarks come in the midst of speculation according to which the new American administration, led by President Donald Trump, could influence Pakistan to release Khan following declarations of support to the former Prime Minister of certain members of the US Congress on the Plate -Social media Form X.
While some legislators, including Trump’s help, Richard Grenell, had posted in favor of the liberation of Khan, AIF stressed that some of these legislators then suppressed their tweets.
He also specified that Pakistan maintains an “appropriate commitment” with the American government, which remains a crucial partner in areas such as security and the fight against terrorism.
His comments follow the recent visit to the Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi in the United States, where he met key members of Trump’s foreign policy and other legislators.
Naqvi expressed its optimism that meetings would lead to positive results, stressing the importance of close links between the two countries.
Asif also addressed the growing wave of terrorism to Pakistan, attributing the growing frequency and intensity of attacks on the use of “sophisticated” American weapons by group activists such as the Tehrik-I-Taliban Liberation Army (TTP) and the Liberation Army of Balochistan (Bla).
He expressed the hope that the armed forces and the resilience of Pakistan would ultimately overcome the threat of terrorism.
He argued that India is behind certain terrorism incidents in Pakistan, invoking evidence that he has given to the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan concerning operations involving Indian consulates in the areas bordering Pakistan, like Jalalabad.
