Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi-Pakistan (MQM-P) movement faces internal conflicts following the allocation of organizational positions, several senior leaders expressing dissatisfaction.

This dissatisfaction led to a large gathering of party workers at the head office of Bahadurabad, where they organized a protest against recent structural changes.

On Saturday, the party published a circular announcing new organizational responsibilities. However, this decision has intensified internal discord, causing a strong reaction from workers and certain leaders.

High leaders Anes Qaimkhani, Aminul Haq and Dr Farooq Sattar were included in the central organizing committee.

Protesters from the headquarters of Bahadurabad expressed their grievances, singing slogans in support of the president of the Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui party and against Mustafa Kamal, the former mayor of Karachi. Some workers have also raised concerns about the lack of consultation before publishing the circular.

Sources indicate that MQM-P leadership remains divided on restructuring. The workers expressed their frustration away from several leaders in the distribution of responsibilities. In addition, reports suggest that some people even clashed with party officials during demonstrations.

Despite the troubles, the party leaders tried to minimize the crisis. Sattar defended Siddiqui, saying that “there is no need for a vote of confidence against him, and the constitution of the party does not provide such a mechanism”.

He stressed the importance of unity within the party, warning that any split at this stage would be detrimental to all factions.

Sattar also recognized internal differences, but stressed that these problems should be resolved internally rather than in the public sphere.

He suggested that misunderstandings arising from party merger agreements could be calculated by dialogue.

Meanwhile, speculation appeared concerning the role of the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, in recent decisions, because slogans would have been raised against him during the demonstrations. However, some leaders have denied such incidents.
