  • A heavy deployment of the police outside the premises of the Supreme Court.
  • Jinnah’s lower passage blocked with containers in the middle of security problems.
  • Metro Bus Service Suspended from Faiz station to the secretariat.

Islamabad: Security was tightened outside the Supreme Court in anticipation of a possible demonstration of lawyers, while the Metro bus service operating between twin cities was also partially suspended.

A heavy police quota was deployed in the premises of the Supreme Court, and only Margalla Road was maintained open for access to the court.

Due to the closing of the entry points into the red zone, a serious congestion of traffic was reported at Cashmere Chowk, while Serena Chowk, Nadra Chowk, Marriott Hotel, Express Chowk and T-Cross Bari Imam were also sealed . In addition, Jinnah’s underground passage was blocked using containers.

As a precautionary measure, the Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus service has been restricted. According to metropolitan authorities, operations between FAIZ Ahmed Faiz station and the Pak secretariat were suspended, while the service remains operational of Rawalpindi Saddar station at FAZ Ahmed Faiz station. The metro service in Islamabad has been interrupted due to security problems.

The closure of the roads and current demonstrations caused difficulties to lawyers and litigants in Islamabad. Many have trouble reaching the High Court of Islamabad due to limited access.

In response, the Islamabad High Court Bar Association urged judges not to transmit an unfavorable prescription in the absence of lawyers or liters.

The president of the association, Riyasat Ali Azad, published a declaration highlighting the challenges facing law professionals and visitors to the court.

The declaration stresses that because of the roadblocks, lawyers and litigants cannot reach the high court in time. He calls on judges to refrain from making decisions unfavorable in cases where the parties are unable to attend because of these disturbances.

Lawyers across the country had announced earlier this month that they planned to walk to Islamabad on February 10 to protest the 26th constitutional amendment.

Lawyers also demanded that the meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) either held today, or canceled immediately.

In addition, they also declared that no new appointment should be made until the case on the 26th amendment is decided, adding that the most high -end judge of the High Court of Islamabad (CIH) was to be rendered his chief judge.
