16 Pakistanis who died in the sinking of Libya Blogging Sole

In another shipwreck incident off the coast of Libya, at least 16 Pakistani nationals were confirmed dead while several others are still missing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

A press release published by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Pakistan Embassy in Tripoli confirmed the recovery of 16 bodies, identified through their Pakistani passports, while efforts continue to locate the remaining missing people,

According to unconfirmed reports, a total of 63 Pakistani nationals were aboard the boat, said FO spokesperson, so far, 37 survivors have been recorded, including a medical treatment in a local hospital and 33 currently in police custody.

It would seem that around 10 Pakistanis would have disappeared in the accident. Three of the survivors are in Tripoli and are taken care of by the embassy.

The Pakistani victims were identified as SAQlain Haider s / o IMRAN Ali – District KURRAM, KPK, SIRAJ UDDIN S / O IQBAL MUHAMMAD – DISTRICT BAJAUR, KPK, SHOAIB HUSSAIN S / O Noord Ali – District KURRAM, NUSRAT HUSSAIN S / O MIR AFZAL – DISTRICT KURRAM, SHOAIB ALI S / O MUHAMMAD ALI – KURRAM DISTRICT, SOYED SHEHZAD HUSSAIN S / O SOYED WAJID ALI SHAH – KURRAM DISTRICT, ABID HUSSAIN S / O IMRAN ALI – DISTRICT KURRAM, ASIF ALI S / O Israr HUSSAIN – District Kurram, Muhammad Ali Shah S / O Abdullah Shah – Orakzai District, Kpk, Musawir Hussain S / O Sher Mehdi – Kurram district, Aswar Hussain S / O Mandar Ali – District Kurram, Abid Hussain S / O Muhammad Hassan – District Kurram, Musaib Hussain s / o Jamil Hussain – Kurram district, anis khan s / o Musharaf khan – Peshawar district, Ashfaq Hussain s / o Hussain Afzal – Kurram and Shahid Hussain S / O Kafiat Hussain – District Kurram.

The Pakistan Embassy in Tripoli has actively coordinated with local authorities in the city of Zawiya, where the incident took place. Embassy officials visited Zawiya hospital and other institutions concerned to collect more information and provide necessary help for survivors.

The Tripoli Embassy is collecting new information and maintaining contact with the local authorities.
