The government has announced a reduction in fuel prices to RS5, from February 16, 2025.

High -speed diesel (HSD), which is widely used in the agriculture and transport sectors, will see a price drop in RS4 per liter. The new price for HSD will be RS263.95, down compared to the previous rate of RS267.95 per liter.

In addition to the HSD, the price of gasoline has also been reduced by RS1 per liter. The new petrol price will be RS256.13, following a similar drop in the second half of February 2025.

In addition, the prices of kerosene and light diesel have been reduced to Rs5 per liter. Kerosene will now be available at RS171.65 per liter, while light diesel will cost 155.81 rupees per liter.

In a statement, the Ministry of Finance said that PUIL & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had examined and adjusted the consumption prices of petroleum products in the light of recent fluctuations in the international oil market.

He also declared that the prices of these products had been set for the next fortnight of the current month.

Earlier, it was reported that the price of diesel should be considerably reduced by RS9.11 per liter for the fortnight from February 16, in accordance with the fluctuations in world oil prices.

Pakistan is a net importer of petroleum products, so any reduction in their prices is awarded to world market movements.

Local prices are calculated while considering existing tax rates and the inner equalization margin of freight. There is no adjustment in terms of exchange rate in rupees.

The government is currently invoicing 60 rupees per liter in the petroleum levy on petrol and high -speed diesel each. The levy was supposed to be invested in the development of the petroleum sector as the implementation of storage, but has never been used for the planned goal. The government has used income to comply with its current expenses.
