Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the development of a complete strategy to stimulate Pakistan exports, set a goal of $ 60 billion in the next five years, The news reported.

Thursday, presiding over a meeting, he underlined the need to prioritize the key sectors, including services, information technologies and agriculture, to stimulate export growth.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of increasing industrial production by reforming the tariff structure and simplifying the system. He ordered his economic team to implement sustainable tariff reforms to accelerate economic progress and strengthen exports.

During the meeting, he was informed of the measures taken to reform the Ministry of Commerce and increase the export objective to $ 60 billion over the next five years. It has been informed that the price has been gradually decreased in the past two years.

The Ministry of Commerce organized international exhibitions in Pakistan every year to extend exports. Consultations also continued with all stakeholders in the 2025-30 strategic commercial policy. The consultation on electronic commerce policy was in the last stage of completion and would be presented for the approval of the firm next month.

The Prime Minister also chaired a meeting to examine reforms in the health and pharmaceutical sectors. He ordered that a good standard drug screening laboratory was established in Islamabad to ensure the quality of medication according to international level.

He also asked the launch of mobile hospitals to provide health establishments on the outskirts of Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Cashmere and Balutchistan. He ordered an operation in collaboration and consultation with provincial governments against counterfeit drugs.

He said research in the medical field should be undertaken to increase exports from the pharmaceutical sector. The meeting was also informed that the current volume of drug export was $ 500 million and that the Ministry of Health took action to improve exports by carrying reforms, including the supply of research facilities .

The Prime Minister also held separate meetings with members of the National Assembly Muhammad Idrees, Ehsanul Haque Bajwa and the leaders of the Pakistani Muslim League (N) Mohinwaz Ranjha and Shah Muhammad Shah.

Meanwhile, it is likely to approve a proposed package of 20.5 billion Ramazan rupees offered today (Friday). In case of green light, the Prime Minister will announce the package.
