The authorities of the Kurram district increased efforts to demolish bunkers belonging to rival factions, with 253 structures already dismantled as part of an initiative in the process of applying peace, Express News reported on Sunday.
According to district officials, the operation is carried out under the Kohat peace agreement to ensure lasting stability in the region.
Until now, 117 bunkers have been removed in the bottom of Kurram, while 136 were destroyed in Upper Kurram. Officials have confirmed that the process will continue until all illegal structures are deleted.
The Kurram sub-commissioner reaffirmed that a strict implementation of the Kohat peace agreement remains a priority, stressing that all the necessary measures will be taken to maintain order in the district.
In addition, while the research and strike operation continues in Kurram, the security forces have arrested 57 terrorists and recovered looted goods as well as a large cache of weapons.
According to Kohat RPO Abbas Majeed Marwat, those arrested were involved in an attack on an essential food supplies.
Meanwhile, the authorities have intensified efforts to collect weapons with local residents of Mandori, Ochat and Charkhel.
Under the Kurram peace agreement, the arms of the two contradictory parties had to be delivered. Initially, arms without incitement were collected on Bagan and the surrounding areas.
