Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has strongly refuted Indian media reports alleging a terrorist threat to foreign guests attending the ICC 2025 champions trophy in Pakistan.
Speaking in an interview on a private news channel on Monday, he said that Pakistan organized the event “peacefully and very well”, rejecting complaints made by the Indian media.
Earlier, it was reported that the Pakistan Intelligence Bureau had published a high alert concerning a potential conspiracy of secret terrorist groups to remove foreign guests attending the Rançon tournament.
The report has appointed several terrorist outfits, including Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, the Islamic State and the Balutchistan groups. He also mentioned that Pakistan security forces had deployed high -level protection teams to ensure the safety of players and staff.
In response, Tarar denounced relationships as a false propaganda intended to harm the image of Pakistan and to sabotage the successful accommodation of the tournament. He accused the Indian media of politicizing sports and spreading lies to undermine the event.
He said: “Pakistan is one of the safest places, and we were able to lead the ICC matches very peacefully and very effectively.”
Tarar has also criticized India’s refusal to visit Pakistan for the tournament, rather choosing to play all his games in Dubai.
He suggested that India’s campaign against accommodation successful by Pakistan from the event came from jealousy and discomfort in the prospect of a major international sporting event in Pakistan.
The minister underlined the crowded stadium at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore during the England match against Australia last week, praising the positive atmosphere and the presence of international fans. Tarar has also refuted the allegations of low attendance, declaring that the reports had been manufactured.
He concluded by reiterating that Pakistan would continue to welcome the tournament successfully, rejecting any attempt to spread harmful propaganda.
“India propaganda will fall flat on his face,” he said, Higlighting that the ICC champions trophy was a victory not only for Pakistan, but for the global sports community.
