Karachi: As Ramadan is less than a week, the SUTHERN GAS COMPANY (SSGC) announced on Wednesday the gas supply schedule for the sacred month.

In a press release, the SSGC said that gas would be available from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. for Sehri (meal before dawn) and from 3.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the Iftaar meal during Ramadan.

“These schedules have been drawn up to provide convenience to our estimated customers for food preparations for Sehar and Iftaar,” said the company.

However, the SSGC said, it should be kept in mind that the annual depletion of 10% in the country’s gas reserves led to the widening of the gases’ deviation.

Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has issued a prediction of crescent visibility on the basis of scientific assessments, astronomical calculations and modern observation data.

The country’s space agency said in its analysis that the new moon for Ramadan will occur on February 28 at 5:45 a.m. PST.

The probability of an observation of the moon on February 28 in Pakistan is extremely low given these scientific parameters. Therefore, Sha’ban should end 30 days, and the first day of fasting will probably be observed on March 2.

In Saudi Arabia, the new moon should also be born on February 28, 2025.

However, due to the position of the moon compared to the horizon and atmospheric clarity, the crescent should be visible leading to the beginning of Ramadan on March 1 in Pakistan, however, it will start a day later.

Earlier this month, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) also predicted that the first day of fasting in Pakistan should fall on March 2.

The sacred month, observed with a fervor and a religious zeal, will see millions of Pakistanis as well as billions of Muslims from the whole world observing a fast from dawn in the sun.

Like many other countries, Ramadan, Pakistan, is marked by an increase in charity and public food drives with people who establish stands on the roadside for people who return home in the evening.
