Islamabad: In the middle of the “financial crunch” reported by the former ruling party, the wages of staff members of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) were reduced by 50%, sources revealed on Tuesday.
In addition to this, other advantages and privileges, including the fuel allowance, employees of the PTI secretariat were abolished with an immediate effect, added the sources.
“The wages of at least 25 employees of the PTI Secretariat have been reduced,” he added.
Reacting to reports, the central secretary of central information, Sheikh Waqas Akam, said that he was personally in favor of the suggestion that wages be reduced by 50%.
The “difficult decision” was made in the context of the party’s frozen and the financial crisis accounts, Akram added. He said that staff wages would be increased again once the situation is normalizing.
The relationship between the founder of PTI, Imran Khan and the establishment, began to worsen after the eviction of the first of power in April 2022.
Later, the riots of May 9 – which were triggered almost across the country after the arrest of Prime Minister Imran Khan filed in the regulation case of 190 million pounds Sterling – widened the difference between the two parties.
Hundreds of PTI workers and senior leaders were placed behind bars for their involvement in violence and attacks against military facilities.
During the demonstrations, the disbelievers targeted civil and military installations, notably – Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The army called on May 9 “Black Day” on May 9 and decided to try the demonstrators under the Army Act.
Following violent protests, dozens of party leaders and workers were arrested and tried in military courts.
In December of last year, the military court sentenced 25 people and a few days later, said sentences to 60 people, including the former nephew of first Khan, Hassan Khan Niazi.
Later in January, the convictions of 19 convicted were gracked after their mercy calls were accepted by appeal lessons only for humanitarian reasons, according to inter-service public relations (ISPR), declaring that a total of 67 convicted had deposited petitions of mercy, including 48.
However, the Party based on Imran Khan expressed its dissatisfaction with the forgiveness of only 19 convicted as president of the PTI, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, categorically opposed the trial of civilians to the military courts citing the decision of the Supreme Court in this regard.
