The instinctive reaction of a mother saved her young child from a train coming in the opposite direction to the Hyderabad station, in a dramatic incident which has since become viral on social networks.
The painful moment took place on Friday evening while the Shalimar Express, on the way from Karachi to Punjab, stopped in the platform.
The woman, traveling with her husband and children, was about to get on the train when her child suddenly slipped and came across the rails.
Without hesitation, she jumped to save him. As she grabbed the child, a train approaching on the track left them for a few seconds to react. Witnesses have shouted in panic, urging the driver to apply emergency brakes.
Thinking quickly, the mother attracted her child to a drainage ditch between the slopes, just when the train rumbled on them. The driver of the train managed to slow down and the railway staff rushed to the scene. A few moments later, the pair was safely withdrawn.
Railway officials later confirmed that the two only underwent minor injuries and were taken to a neighboring hospital for medical care.
