No agenda, individual superior to national security: Coas Blogging Sole

Islamabad:

The chief of staff of the army, General Syed Asim Munnir, underlined on Tuesday the need for better governance to eliminate terrorism, warning that during the duration of the security forces continue to fill “the governance gaps with the blood” of the martyrs.

Addressing the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (NSC), the army chief urged “all the elements of national power” to work in harmony to make Pakistan a strong and resilient state. He called to go beyond political and personal interests to adopt a unified position against terrorism.

“We need better governance and must transform Pakistan into a” hard state “. How long will we continue to sacrifice countless lives under a” soft state “model, he asked. “How long will we continue to fill the governance gaps with the blood of the armed forces and martyrs of Pakistan,” he said.

General Asim stressed that the war in progress against terrorism was “a battle for our survival and that of future generations”. He stressed that there was no agenda, movement or individual superior to the security of the country.

“For lasting stability, all the elements of national power must function in harmony. I ask religious researchers to expose the distorted interpretation of Islam by the Kharijites,” he said, referring to the term used for terrorists belonging to the Tehrek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The army chief said that nothing was more important for the armed forces of Pakistan than the security of the nation. “If the country exists, then we exist,” he said. To protect Pakistan, he said: “We have to unite and adopt a common account, by reserving political and personal differences”

The army chief warned that those who thought they could weaken Pakistan by terrorism should understand that “we are united, and not only we defeat them” but also their facilitators. “We have total faith by Allah Almighty; whatever happens, Inshaallah, we will succeed.”
