Pakistan State Bank (SBP) said on Tuesday that it had so far issued 27 billion currency tickets costs of all denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks for distribution to the general public, taking into account the practice.

The SBP as it refuted the reports according to which the Central Bank did not issue new banknotes on this EID UL FITR.

“The SBP is continuing its long-standing practice to issue fresh banknotes to commercial banks during Eid-Ul-Fitr, taking advantage of their large national branches networks to facilitate public access to fresh tickets,” he said in a document.

Likewise, he said, arrangements have also been taken to ensure that the ATM banks network issues uninterrupted good quality tickets during the holiday season.

To guarantee the effective distribution of banknotes and their availability in all commercial banking branches, “the SBP has also deployed its cash surveillance teams to perform on -site inspections, ensuring the disbursement of fresh tickets to the general public”.

The first day of Eid is expected to fall on March 31 while the research commission of Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere (Suparco) has published a forecast for the visibility of the crescent next month on the basis of scientific assessments and modern observation data.

The country’s space agency said in its analysis that, according to astronomical models, the Shawwal Moon will be visible on March 30, indicating that the UL FITR AID will be observed on March 31, 2025, in Pakistan.
