Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, said that Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has no more influence on the Taliban and proposed to take charge of negotiations with the group, Express News reported.
Addressing journalists in Islamabad on Friday, he said: “The influence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the Taliban ended. Give me the task – I will take them to the table. “
He revealed that a plan of talks with the Taliban had been submitted two and a half months ago, but no progress was made. “I sent a negotiation plan with former tribal to foreign and interior ministries, but I have not received an answer. The Taliban cannot refuse the former tribal,” he said.
“If I am given the task, you will see me sit with (Taliban leader) Akhundzada tomorrow. There has not yet been contact with the Taliban, but send me, and the talks will start,” he said.
He also pointed out that two years ago, when he traveled the mountains, the Taliban leaders at low level were in contact with Fazlur Rehman, “but today I am the chief minister – and tomorrow, I might have no value.”
By reflecting on the general elections, he said: “On election day, we hid the mountains. We did not organize any public gathering. Of 95 presidents of the Union Council, only three were ours; the others lacked. “
Earlier, while approaching an IFTAR rally, Gandapur said that the KP government had overcome its financial challenges and currently has a surplus of 159 billion rupees, while Punjab is faced with a deficit of 148 billion rupees.
“We are talking about corruption in our province, but if corruption existed, how could we have a surplus? If it is corruption, then each province should have it,” he joked.
Calling for political stability, he said, “the founder of PTI must be released. Only his release can restore political stability in the country. Things were normal before the PTI government was removed; now terrorism and anarchy have jumped.”
He also underlined the need for dialogue with Afghanistan. “We share thousands of kilometers in border with Afghanistan. Whenever I talk about talks, there is an opposition. Even during the PDM government, it was decided to engage with the Taliban. ”
Gandapur reiterated the need for national dialogue for the improvement of the country. “No dialogue can occur without the liberation of the founder of the PTI. No battle can be won without the support of the people. To win the war against terrorism, the public confidence is essential-we must advance public opinion,” he concluded.
