Rawalpindi:

Workers in the health and sanitation patrol in Rawalpindi are in arms against the “excessive workload during Ramazan”, which includes double changes for polio and dengue prevention tasks, followed by additional tasks up to 10 p.m. for compilation of computer micro-plans.

Many workers have reported growing domestic tensions due to their prolonged absence from the morning in the evening of the evening.

Some families have used the purchase of Iftar items on the market because women are unable to prepare meals at home.

Frustrated by the situation, workers organized a strong demonstration at the district health office. According to Protestant workers, the workload has become unbearable as Ramazan approaches its end.

After completing the dengue surveillance and polio immunization tasks, they are forced to manually write micro-plans for the next day inspections, by begging IT operators later to digitize them. This process extends their working hours up to 21 or 10 p.m., forcing them to break their fasting at work or in the streets rather than their families.

Adding to their frustration, minor errors in reports are encountered with immediate opinions of justification. Women also complain that their compensation is skinny compared to exhausting 18 -hour work days that they are forced to endure.
