Criticizing the federal government for omitting to engage with Afghanistan on terrorism, lawyer Ali Saif, information advisor to the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said on Saturday that Pakistan’s security problems were closely linked to his Western neighbor.
Speaking on Geo News Program Naya Pakistan, Barrister Saif asked why the government did not hold conferences with the Afghan authorities despite the recognition that terrorist networks operated on the other side of the border.
“If they know where the problem is, what prevents them from bringing Afghanistan to the table?” He asked.
“They do not commit themselves with Kabul themselves or not allowing anyone else to do so. Let’s talk to Afghanistan – our people are targeted. “
He expressed his confidence that negotiations with the Afghan authorities could help limit the recent wave of terrorism.
“We have to get involved with all the active organizations against Pakistan to find a solution. The question is, do we want to continue to fight, or do we want to solve this problem? ”
Lawyer SAIF recalled that after the American withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, it was agreed that the Afghan Taliban would respond to the security problems of Pakistan.
“Even when the PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) government came to power in April 2022, these discussions continued. However, they were interrupted after relations with Kabul deteriorated. ”
Bleamless the inaction of the government, he said that the current conflict could have been resolved if appropriate diplomatic efforts had been made.
“Terrorism burns our lands, and Ali Amin Gandapur tries to fight the fire, but it is the responsibility of the federal government to end this war.”
He also rejected the remarks of Pakistan Muslime League-Nawaz (PML-N) Talal Chaudhry on Gandapur, calling them “idiot”.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said activists once in a public rally: “Do not come to us (Punjab), doing what you want elsewhere.”
Lawyer SAIF urged the government to open the doors to negotiations and assume responsibility for border management and foreign policy.
“Our young soldiers sacrifice their lives daily. The federal government must act. “
