Customs officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore intercepted an attempted closing of 102 iphones in Pakistan from Bangkok, with an estimated value of millions of rupees.

The operation, based on a warning, targeted a passenger arriving in a foreign airline in Bangkok, Express News reported.

The authorities, acting on a secret alert, found hidden phones among the passenger’s affairs.

The passenger, identified as Malik Shahid Hussain de Lahore, was placed in police custody.

A case was recorded against him and surveys are underway.

Customs officials, led by customs collector Tayyiba Kiani, confirmed the successful operation and reiterated that efforts to prevent smuggling in all Punjab airports would continue.
