While the opposition parties are preparing for a new wave of demonstrations on a national level after Eidul Fitr, the government accepted Tuesday the president of the People’s Pakistan Party (PPP), Bhutto Zardari, the offer to mediate with Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) and initiate the dialogue to resolve the current political tensions.

The development one day came after Bilawal, during a speech at the house of the governor of Lahore, proposed the role of his party as a neutral facilitator between rival political forces.

“I informed the Prime Minister that the PPP is ready to act as a bridge between political forces to promote dialogue and cooperation,” said Bilawal. He also reiterated the opening of his party to dialogue with the government to encourage constructive discussions.

Confirming this decision, the advisor of the Prime Minister of Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, said during an appearance on local media, “the government accepted the bilawal mediation offer and awarded him the responsibility to hold conferences with the PTI.”

He added: “If Bilawal obtains PTI insurance to attend the meeting, there is no problem going up the meeting of the National Security Committee.”

In his speech by Lahore, Bilawal urged the federal government to hire all political stakeholders, including those who boycotted the last high -level meeting on national security, in a renewed effort to counter terrorism.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should summon another meeting, even if after a month … We hope to build a national consensus to fight terrorism,” he said.

Sanaullah recognized the role of PPP in the ruling coalition and declared that bringing it to the negotiation table would be a collective achievement. “It would be their joint success if Bilawal succeeds in bringing PTI to the negotiating table,” he said.
