Electricity consumers have sigh of relief after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a significant reduction in power prices on Thursday, providing relief from RS7,41 per unit to national consumers.

Announcing the power relief package during a ceremony in Islamabad, the Prime Minister also revealed that the cost per unit for industrial units had also been reduced by RS7.59.

Development comes a month after the government’s request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a reduction in electricity prices – following the approval of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which gave the green light for a drop in Re1 per kilowatt in public services.
