Karachi: Rangeed citizens set fire to at least seven down trucks in different places on Wednesday evening after a speed travel truck crushed two motorcycles in the northern Karachi region.
The provincial government, taking note of the situation, ordered the authorities to arrest the driver and those involved in the combustion of vehicles.
The incident began when a rapid tip -over truck, apparently led by a teenager, hit two motorcycles near Nagan Chowrangi Survol.
No loss of life has been reported in the incident. However, the incident has angry the citizens who set fire to seven trucks of Duper on the same path.
According to eyewitnesses, the Dumper – allegedly led by a teenager aged 17 to 18 – came at high speed from the overflight of Nagan Chowrangi when he hit two motorcycles. The runners escaped with minor injuries.
Eyewitness said that the furious crowd surrounded the dumper, assaulted the driver and used motorcycles to block his path. In a desperate attempt to flee, the driver would have crossed the motorcycles, aggravating the situation.
The rabid crowd burned several discovery trucks at the central roundabout. Later, more vehicles were launched near the 4K area of Chowrangi. Police sources have confirmed that a total of seven waste had been burned.
The firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to put out the flames in the middle of a security cordon by the police. A large police contingent has been deployed in the affected areas to control the situation.
Police said they were collecting information from hospitals to assess if there had been unconvolled injuries.
By reacting to incidents, the parade drivers threw lots of waste on the main road near Sohrab Goth and Al-Asif Square, disturbing traffic.
Liaquat Mehsud, a representative of the Dumper Association, while addressing the media of Chowrangi power, said that 11 of his vehicles had been burned.
He urged the government to arrest managers and demanded the protection of owners and Dumper drivers.
“If someone was injured in the accident, let them come forward. Where are they?” questioned.
Reacting strongly to the situation, the Minister of the Interior Zia Lanjar expressed her regret with regard to accidents and issued clear directives to arrest the people involved in reckless driving.
“No one is authorized to set fire to heavy vehicles. Whoever disturbs peace or terror will be distributed will be placed in police custody,” he said.
The minister also ordered the police to investigate the demonstrations near Sohrab Goth and to arrest those who prompted violence.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, expressed his concerns about incidents. He recognized the anger of the public in the face of deadly road accidents involving heavy vehicles, but warned against taking the law in his own hands.
“Citizens have the right to be upset perfectly, but the law must prevail. Let us not allow anyone to stir up the flames of the conflict,” he said.
He urged Karachi residents to remain peaceful and to avoid provocation, stressing the importance of unity and the rule of law.
