President Asif Ali Zardari shows signs of recovery, according to his doctor Dr. Asim Hussain, local media reported on Friday. The president, who was tested positive for COVID-19 on April 2, is currently treated in a private Karachi hospital.
Hussain has confirmed that a recent quick test for COVID-19 has returned to negative, but President Zardari continues to be monitored by specialists in infectious diseases. “He undergoes physiotherapy and will probably remain hospitalized for a few more days,” said the doctor.
Medical experts in the hospital infectious disease service examine the president three times a day, he said, adding, doctors have restricted all visits as a precaution.
The president’s family receives regular health updates and recent blood test reports have shown promising results, said Dr Asim.
Zardari was initially in Nawabshah, but was then transferred to Karachi for better medical care – a movement described by his doctor as appropriate and beneficial. The president remains under close observation, health officials continuing to monitor his state as part of a prudent recovery process.
