Beijing: China called on the United States on Sunday to “completely cancel” its reciprocal prices after Washington announced exemptions for consumer electronics and chip equipment.
“We urge the United States to (…) to take a big step to correct its mistakes, completely cancel the poor practice of” reciprocal prices “and to return to the right path of mutual respect,” a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce in a statement.
An opinion Friday evening by the US Customs and Border Protection Office said that smartphones, laptops, memory fleas and other products would be excluded from the president of Global Levies Donald Trump this month.
The Beijing Ministry of Commerce said the exemptions were a “small step” from Washington and China “assessed the impact” of the decision.
It then came that Chinese 125% reprisal prices on American goods entered into force on Saturday, with a projection of Beijing against its greatest trading partner.
Exemptions will benefit American technological companies like Nvidia and Dell, as well as Apple, which manufactures iPhones and other premium products in China.
Most Chinese products are still faced with 145% coverage after the country has been excluded from a suspended price of 90 days.
