Spanish police have set the ground an underground shooting and buried rifles that would have been used by the ring of arms trafficking Blogging Sole

Spanish police said on Wednesday that they had discovered an illegal underground shooting field they suspected of having been exploited by a weapon trafficking network that provided assault rifles and other weapons to drug gangs.

The officers made a descent into a house in the southern province of Granada and found the site, which was located on three floors underground, Police said in a statement.

The neighbors could not hear firearms due to the depth of the range, the authorities said.

Police said it was the first time that they found an “illegal shooting field managed by a criminal group” in Spain.

The authorities believe that the site was used to test weapons that the group provided to the drug trafficking rings, which then used them to defend themselves or attack rival gangs.

Police published a video From the operation, showing that the agents slowly descend from the narrow stairs to a cave -shaped structure as well as the authorities collecting evidence.

“The operation withdrew the street weapons that could have been used to commit extremely serious crimes,” the statement said.

Police said the group had proposed to sell assault rifles, machine gun pistols and automatic pistols, as well as ammunition, swept vests and other tactical equipment.

The agents arrested three people and seized several weapons and more than 60,000 euros ($ 68,000) in cash.

Most weapons have been found buried in an open field, “packaged for conservation and ready to be used,” the police said. Investigators said they were already aiming for hiding places “due to solid evidence that firearms were tested there.”

Police said new arrests were possible.

Also Wednesday, in a separate operation, Spanish police arrested more than two dozen gang members suspected of having cultivated and treaty of marijuana. The arrests were made after officers found videos on social networks showing that suspects “explode weapons and displaying their standard of living”, according to a Declaration of the Ministry of the Interior.

Spain is a large gateway to Europe for drug trafficking networks because of its links with the old colonies in Latin America and its proximity to Morocco, a large producer of cannabis.
