The cable car accident in Italy kills 4 people on Monte Faith, south of Naples Blogging Sole

Milan – A cable car carrying tourists south of Naples crashed on the ground on Thursday after a cable broken, killing at least four people and seriously injuring one, officials said.

The broken cable stopped the ascending cable cars and down as they crossed Monte Faith in the city of Castellamare di Stabia. The cable car finally crushed, causing deaths and injuries, while eight tourists and an operator were evacuated from the descending cable car, said the prefect of Naples Michele de Bari.

Three tourists were part of four deceased, including a British woman and an Israeli woman, according to Marco de Rosa, spokesperson for the mayor of the local city of Vico Equense. Only two of the three foreign victims had been identified in the morning after the accident.

Italian prosecutors have opened an investigation into several guilty manslaughter and guilty catastrophe.

“The traction cable has broken. The emergency brake downstream has worked, but it is obviously not that of the cabin that entered the station,” said the mayor of Castellamare, Luigi Vicinanza.

Italian alpine rescue, as well as firefighters, police and civil protection services responded to the accident.

The accident occurred just a week after the cable car, popular for its view of Montoulage and the Bay of Naples, reopened for the season.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her condolences for the victims and their families and said she was in contact with the rescuers. She was in Washington, where she met US President Donald Trump.

Fourteen people were killed in a similar accident in 2021 When a cable broke in the picturesque region of the picturesque lake in northern Italy, sending a drop -down cable car on the ground, then tumbling on a slope.
