Karachi: In potential relief for residents of the heat of the metropolis, the meteorological department of Pakistan (PMD) has planned strong winds in the city today (Sunday).
Strong winds are expected to blow in Karachi during the day today with speeds up to 30 kilometers per hour, the Met Office said in a press release.
With humidity levels currently at 58%, the PMD has said that time should remain troubled tomorrow with the possibility of light rain in certain places.
Burine forecasts apply to the backdrop of last month being the seventh drier and the hottest April in the country in the past 65 years.
The average temperature across the country in April was 27.91 degrees Celsius, 3.37 ° C higher than the long -term average of 24.54 ° C.
Diurnal temperatures were particularly alarming, the average maximum temperature recorded at 36.40 ° C, exceeding the usual average of 31.74 ° C by 4.66 ° C. This has made it the second highest diurnal temperature for the month of April in the last 65 years.
April precipitation was 59% lower than average, classifying it among the driest April recorded since 1960.
This significant difference highlights the growing impact of climate change on the country’s weather conditions. These extremes could have serious implications for agriculture, water resources and public health, especially since the summer season is intensifying.
However, this is likely to fade because the PMD has provided the wind and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms in the upper and power plants in the country from May 1 to May 4 (today).
The provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Punjab also issued a meteorological alert for Lahore and other parts of the province, warning heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Authority said that louds -related showers should persist until May 4 in regions such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan. The Multan, Sahiwal and Bahawalpur divisions are also likely to be affected.
