Jhang: The elderly, whose retirees and local businessmen, called on Friday the authorities to take note of the installation of a new automatic window at the location of the regional office, allegedly to facilitate office staff instead of serving the bank’s customers.

They alleged that instead of replacing the frequently defective automatic counter in the branch of the community center, the decision to install a new machine in a residential area was contrary to the interests of citizens.

They stressed that the Pakistan State Bank had implemented a policy exempting the retirees from biometric verification due to problems with illegible printing of the thumb.

The director of the bank was obliged to accept life certificates, in particular on the part of sick retirees, before treating their payments, they added. However, instead of facilitating the elderly, the bank officials had started to force them to appear in person in the government’s payments section. A retired banker thought that when receiving a check for the payment of the pension should be sufficient for life verification by the director of the branch.

However, no one was willing to facilitate helpless elderly retirees, who could be seen walking in the community center branch for a biometric verification problem, he added. Retirees standing outside the bank said The news That they were treated as second -class citizens as well as armed guards prevented them from entering the bank under the pretext that the link of the system was broken.

A retired teacher pointed out that the bankers sitting in air -conditioned offices seemed to forget that the teachers had once educated them to reach such positions.

The news I tried to publicize the chief director of the State Bank of Pakistan in Faridabad concerning surveillance at the district of banks, but the operator said that he was in an urgent meeting.

However, when he was contacted at the regional office of the NBP concerning the grievances of retirees and the ATM number, an Operations Section Higher Officer told The news that the new automatic window was installed on an approved site because it was specially bought by the head office for the RM office.

He added that new software for the biometric verification of retirees had been implemented at the community center and to other branches and that the staff adapted to retirees. He said that all branches’ operation directors had already been invited to facilitate the elderly, including retirees, with the respect I owe you.
