- Northern Waziristan reports the greatest number of attacks.
- 391 terrorist suspects appointed in northern Waziristan.
- 148 terrorists killed through KP, 67 in Di Khan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which remains one of the hardest provinces affected by activism, has witnessed 284 terrorist incidents this year, The news reported, citing a report by the Department of Terrorism (CTD).
According to the report, North Waziristan recorded the greatest number of incidents at 53, followed by Bannu (35), Dera Ismail Khan (31), Peshawar (13) and Kurram (8).
The CTD also declared that 1,116 suspects had been appointed in cases related to terrorism in the province, including 391 in northern Waziristan and 166 from Kurram.
Of the total suspects, 95 have been arrested so far this year. These include 70 arrests in Kurram and 3 each in Swat and Bannu. The CTD report also reveals that 148 terrorists were killed in the province this year, the greatest number, 67, killed in Dera Ismail Khan.
732 attacks were reported in KP in 2024, and 651 attacks took place in 2023. The number of attacks in two years is the highest since the situation in 2009 and 2010.
One of the shocking aspects is that despite frequent attacks, there are many security stations, police stations and even police lines in different parts of the province which have no limits or other arrangements to protect the cops in the event of attacks.
In addition, the cops fighting against war in difficulty districts and other volatile areas have no additional incitement like other provinces. The situation of the law and the order in KP has started to deteriorate since mid-20121, after most of the time, peace has prevailed in the province for many years.
The attacks have further increased since 2023. Even the police seat of the provincial capital was attacked when a suicide bomber has exploded explosives around his vest at the central mosque of the police lines in January 2023.
More than 86 police officers were martyred and more than 200 were injured in the greatest attack on force. In addition to incidents in Peshawar, Khyber and Bajaur, most incidents in recent years have been reported in the southern KP districts.
Two whole divisions in the South, Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu, have been volatile for several years. The Kohat division was relatively peaceful before the situation deteriorated in its Kurram district in November of last year, then incidents were reported to Karak.
The best civil servants of the Government of KP, the Governor and the Chief Minister, belong to the District of Dera Ismail Khan in the south of the KP, which has been touched by terrorism in recent years.
In addition to police and police staff, religious scholars, politicians and other high -level people have been the target of KP attacks in recent years.
