The federal government has promoted the chief of staff of the army (COAS) asim to the rank of Marshal in recognition of his exemplary leadership during operation Bunyan-UM-Marsoos, launched against the unlikely military assault in India at the beginning of the month.

The recent military confrontation between Pakistan and India came after the attack on Tourists last month illegally occupied the Jammu-Cachemire (IIOJK) Jammu and Pahalgam.

“The Government of Pakistan approved the promotion of General Syed Asim Munir (Nishan-Ii-Imtiaz Military) to the rank of Marshal in the field to guarantee the security of the country and defeat the enemy according to the high strategy and courageous leadership during the Bunyan-Um-Marsos operation”, declared a declaration published after a federal meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Here is what the title means:

A land marshal is the highest honorary rank in the army of an country – generally a five -star position – which is above the rank of general.

The grade generally does not carry an operational command, but is assigned to recognize extraordinary military leadership, strategic excellence and a significant contribution to national defense.

Despite his prestige, the rank of Marshal of Champ did not confer any other constitutional authority.

Coas Gen Munnir is only the second person in the history of Pakistan to have the rank of field marshal. The only other recipient was Mohammad Ayub Khan, the former president of Pakistan, who received the title in 1959.

Operation bunyan-marsoos

The armed forces of Pakistan launched a large-scale military reprisal action, called “Operation Bunyan-Um-Marsoos”, and targeted several Indian military targets in several regions.

The strikes, described by managers as “precise and proportionate”, were carried out in response to the continuous aggression of India through the control line (LOC) and in the territory of Pakistan, which said New Delhi was targeting the “terrorist targets”.

Pakistan has shot down six Indian fighter planes, including three gusts and dozens of drones. After at least 87 hours, the war, caused by India, ended on May 10 with a cease-fire agreement negotiated by the United States.

According to ISPR, a total of 53 people, including 13 staff of the armed forces and 40 civilians, were martyred in Indian strikes during the recent military confrontation.
