The federal government said the four-day holiday for Eidul-Azha, which is expected to start on Friday June 6 and will continue until Monday, June 9.
According to Express News, the announcement was made by the Prime Minister, who approved and then confirmed that during the holidays, all government and private offices, educational establishments and banks across the country will remain closed.
The decision complies with the celebration of Eidul Azha, which is a major religious festival in Pakistan.
The announcement was preceded by the observation of the Moon on May 27 by the Rue-E-Hilal Committee. President Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said that the first day of Eidul Azha would be celebrated through Pakistan on June 7.
Eidul Azha marks the end of Hajj which is one of the five pillars of Islam and should be undertaken by all Muslims who can afford it.
