At least five people, including a university professor, lost their lives in separate road accidents in Karachi on Saturday.

The educator was the victim of a horrible road accident when he was struck by a truck of trailers in the future colony of Landhi. The deceased educator was identified as Iftikhar Ahmed, 35, assistant professor at the Government degree College, Ibrahim Hyderi. The truck driver fled the scene.

In another road accident, a car hit a motorcycle near Teen Talwar, leaving a dead man and another injured. Police caught the driver of the vehicle.

An online food delivery pilot was killed in the Khayaban-E-Nishat of Defense Housing Authority (DHA) after its motorcycle was hit by a double cabin vehicle. The driver of the car was arrested.

An unidentified vehicle hit a mother-son duo near Karsaz, Sharea Faisal, today. The boy lost his life, while his mother seriously injured the accident.

In addition, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by an unidentified car at the Jam Sadiq bridge near the Qayyumabad region.

During the first 151 days of 2025, road accidents across the metropolis cost 376 lives and wounded 5,503 people, the news rescues said.

On the deceased, 289 were men, 40 women, 37 boys and 10 girls, stressing the general impact of road traffic incidents on all age groups and sexes.

The wounded included 4,379 men, 809 women, 242 boys and 73 girls, indicating the crisis in safety in the metropolis.
