Washington: US President Donald Trump said Pakistan representatives come to the United States next week while the South Asian country is trying to conclude a tariff agreement.

Pakistan faces a potential 29% tariff on exports to the United States due to a trade surplus of $ 3 billion with the largest economy in the world, under the prices announced by Washington last month on the countries of the world. The prices were then suspended for 90 days so that negotiations can take place.

Pakistan last month decided to dispatch a high-level delegation in the United States for negotiations to improve bilateral trade relations and respond to concerns related to American prices newly imposed on Pakistani imports.

The decision was made on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a revision meeting held in Islamabad on April 9, the group focusing on the increase in national exports and to discuss the recent Washington tariff measures.

The delegation will include leading commercial figures and the main exporters, reflecting the government’s intention to engage the main stakeholders in the formation of a mutually beneficial route.

In today’s speech, Trump said he would have no interest in concluding an agreement with the South Asian country or his neighbor, India, if they were to engage in war with each other.

Trump’s remarks occur a day after Pakistan has officially launched negotiations with the United States on reciprocal rates while Islamabad seeks to capitalize on the interest of the Trump administration to stimulate trade with South Asia.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Ambassador Jamieson Greer, representative of the United States, officially started talks with a telephone call on Thursday, said a financial minister advisor on X.

Earlier this month, Pakistan had offered a zero-taift bilateral agreement in the United States, government sources told Geo News.

“Pakistan proposes to conclude a bilateral agreement with zero prices on selected pricing lines, with mutual interests, to extend bilateral trade in several sectors,” said a high-level source when it was questioned about the new policy offered in the United States.

In a statement today, the advisor, Khurram Schehzad, said: “The two parties exchanged their point of view with a constructive commitment with the understanding that the detailed discussions at the technical level would follow in the coming weeks.

The two parties expressed their confidence in the progress of negotiations for a successful conclusion as soon as possible, he added in a post X.

The Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal said Reuters Earlier this month, Pakistan plans to offer concessions to American companies to invest in its mining sector as part of the negotiations with Washington on prices.

He said ISLAMABAD will offer American companies opportunities to invest in mining projects mainly in the province of Balutchistan in Pakistan through co -entreprises with local businesses, offering concessions such as rental subsidies.

The Minister added that this would be added to efforts to increase imports from the United States, in particular cotton and edible oils, which are currently rare in Pakistan.

Pakistan would put its offer of concessions for mining investments to US officials during interviews on prices in the coming weeks.

US President Trump said he was working on “big business” with Pakistan and India, following Washington’s key role in the brokerage of a cease-fire between Pakistan and India earlier this month after the worst fights for decades between nuclear armed neighbors.
