Islamabad: Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Ishaq Dar and the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi, underlined the importance of Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistanais (UAP) Project of railway line for regional connectivity.
During a telephone conversation between FM DAR and its Afghan counterpart on Sunday, the two leaders agreed to work in close collaboration for an early finalization of the framework agreement, the spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Bureau in a statement said.
One day ago, DAR organized a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Uzbekistan, Saidov Bakhtiyor Odilovich and also discussed the methods of early finalization of the framework pact for the UAP railway, including the details of his signature ceremony in consultation with the leaders of Afghanistan.
The UAP Railway Line project is a trilateral initiative that will improve regional connectivity by connecting Central Asia to Gwadar and Karachi ports through Afghanistan. This project connects Tashkent to Peshawar via Kabul via a 573 -kilometer track which will be built with an estimated cost of $ 4.8 billion.
Speaking of the upgrading of diplomatic links between fraternal countries, Muttaqi praised Pakistan’s decision to upgrade his diplomatic relations at the ambassador and informed that Afghanistan had decided the same thing.
He described it as very positive development in bilateral relations.
The two leaders also examined the implementation of decisions made during the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister in Kabul on April 19 and promised to continue working together to establish mutual confidence between the two frateral nations.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have embassies in the capitals of each other, but they are led by indictment, not ambassadors.
