The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced Tuesday that it would remain closed from June 6 to 9 (Friday to Monday) due to holidays during Eid Ul Adha.
Subsequently, all banks, microfinance lenders and other financial institutions will also observe the Eid holidays during the period.
One day ago, the federal government announced four -day holidays for Eid UL Adha to be celebrated on June 7.
A notification was published by the firm’s division, declaring that June 6, 7, 8 and 9 will be observed as public holidays on the occasion of Eid Ul Adha, both for offices observing a week of work of five and six days.
In Pakistan, the first day of Zil Hajj will fall on Thursday, May 29, 2025, while the AID UL Adha will be observed on Saturday June 7.
The EID UL Adha falls on the 10th day of Zil Hajj, which also marks the pilgrimage of the Hajj. This is the second of the two main festivals of Islam, alongside the AID UL FITR.
Celebrations and observances are generally postponed for three days.
With EID UL Adha just at the corner of the street, the cattle markets have been installed in different areas so that people buy cows, goats, sheep and camels for sacrifice.
The festival is also known as the “feast of sacrifice”, which commemorates the Koranic history of the will of the Prophet Ibrahim (PSL) to sacrifice his Son in obedience to God, a test of faith which was divinely interrupted and replaced by a ram.
In addition, the opportunity is celebrated with prayers, family gatherings and charity acts, including the ritual sacrifice of cattle, with meat distributed to parents, friends and disadvantaged.
