Washington: US President Donald Trump praised links with China as “excellent” on Wednesday, saying that superpowers had entered into an agreement after two days of talks aimed at preserving a truce in their harmful trade war.

Trump said on his social platform of truth that China would provide minerals and rare earth magnets – vital elements for American industries – while Washington would allow Chinese students to stay in American universities.

His position occurred a few hours after the high and Chinese negotiators announced on Tuesday a “executive” agreement after two days of marathon talks in London.

“Our agreement with China is made,” wrote Trump, adding that the agreement was still “subject to final approval with President XI (Jinping) and me”.

“President XI and I are going to work in close collaboration to open China to American trade,” he said in a second article. “It would be a big victory for the two countries !!!”

The US stock markets have shown little enthusiasm despite Trump’s latest statements with the S&P 500 with wide based and the Dow Flat while the Nasdaq, rich in technology, increased above in the morning agreements.

“Candid” discussions

The two parties had agreed to reduce their triple and three -digit prices during talks in Geneva last month, but cracks appeared in relaxation after Trump accused China of raping the agreement.

Washington was concerned with slower supplies with rare earths after Beijing in early April began to demand domestic exporters that they apply for a license – widely considered to be a response to American prices.

Rare earths are used in everything, electric vehicles with hard drives, wind turbines and missiles.

US trade secretary Howard Lunick said on Tuesday in London that American measures imposed when rare earths “did not come” would probably be relaxed once Beijing has advanced with more license approval.

In his social post, Trump said that China would provide “full magnets, and all the rare earths necessary … at the front”.

Washington made Beijing furious by promising to revoke the visas of Chinese students – a major source of income for American universities.

Trump said on Wednesday: “We will provide China what has been agreed, including Chinese students using our colleges and our universities.”

The American president also said that in virtue of the agreement, the United States would apply 55% prices on Chinese products – a combination of its 30% additional samples and the approximate average of pre -existing tasks, said a White House official.

He said Beijing would charge 10% of rights to American goods.

The rates are the same as those which were previously agreed in the truce, which made us lower the tariffs by 145% and those imposed by China by 125%.

In a reading of the Chinese state media of talks published on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister He Lifeng, who led the Beijing team in London, underlined the need for both parties to strengthen cooperation in future dialogue.

“As a next step, the two parties should … continuously improve consensus, reduce misunderstandings and strengthen cooperation,” he said Lifeng, according to CCTV state diffuser.

Addressing journalists in London, the representative of Chinese international trade Li Chenggang said: “Our communication was very professional, rational, in -depth and candid.”
