Citing the fluctuations in international crude oil prices, the finance division announced on Monday an increase in the price of gasoline of 8.36 rupees per liter for the next fortnight, from July 1.
On June 16, 2025, gasoline increased by 4.80 rupees per liter and high -speed Diesel of RS7.95.
With the last increase, gasoline will now cost RS266.79 per liter, against RS258.43. The price of high -speed diesel was also increased by RS10.39, which brought it to Rs272.98 of RS262.59 per liter, according to a notification.
International oil prices fell on Monday while investors weighed the risks of release from the Middle East and a possible increase in OPEC + production in August.
Brent and American crude oil references have displayed their biggest weekly drops since March 2023.

In another development, according to sources, the government has added a carbon tax of RS2.50 per liter to new fuel prices. The fuel levy was reduced to RS75.52 per liter, while the sampling on high -speed diesel was set at RS74.51 per liter.
The rise in prices of petroleum products occurs a day after the oil and gas regulatory authority (OGRA) informed a 50% increase in fixed gas costs for national consumers for financial year 2025-26, from July 1.
Fuel plague small vehicles, ripens and bikes, which makes the price increases particularly difficult on medium and low-income households depending on daily trips.
On the other hand, a substantial part of the transport sector depends on the high -speed diesel. Its price is considered to be inflationary due to its widespread use in trucks, buses, trains and agricultural machines, such as tractors and tube wells.
The increase in the cost of high -speed diesel contributes directly to the rise in vegetable prices and other essential foods.
