The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday introduced a new payment creation system that would enable taxpayers to make secure, efficient and user-friendly online payments, eliminating the need to physically visit the bank.
The tax collection authority said in a statement that the system was guided by the government’s vision to modernize Pakistan’s tax infrastructure.
“FBR reinforces its commitment to advance tax administration and improve revenue collection through advanced digital solutions,” he said, adding that the system, named ePayment 2.0, is available on the IRIS 2.0 portal .
The system would be accessible directly from taxpayers’ bank accounts through online banking, ATMs and mobile banking, eliminating the need for physical visits to the bank.
Electronic Payment 2.0 marks a significant advancement in revenue management, covering a wide range of taxes, including income tax, sales tax, federal excise taxes and withholding taxes, said the FBR.
The authority pointed out that taxpayers previously used a separate electronic payment system outside of IRIS 2.0, forcing them to switch between portals. However, the FBR now offers a unified and improved user interface, accessible directly in IRIS 2.0.
“By generating a unique Payment Slip Identifier (PSID), it enables quick and convenient payments for both registered and unregistered taxpayers. Once payment is made, a Computerized Payment Receipt (CPR) is issued via email and SMS, providing official confirmation and easy access for future use within the IRIS 2.0 system,” the statement said.
The release also said that through a secure and accurate multi-step workflow, the system allows taxpayers to generate a PSID, make payment through ADC channels and receive a real-time CPR, accessible for future compliance needs within IRIS.
“To improve transparency and accountability, it includes a comprehensive PSID lookup function, allowing taxpayers to easily retrieve and confirm payment records. This level of automation and integration minimizes errors and delays, significantly improving the tax payment experience and supporting FBR’s vision of a business-friendly system. compliant tax environment,” he emphasizes.
