ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday highlighted strengthening bilateral collaboration, particularly in combating drug trafficking and addressing common security concerns.
The development came during a high-level meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Saudi counterpart Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif in Riyadh, during which discussions on mutual security interests and cooperation took place.
During the meeting, the two leaders highlighted strengthening bilateral collaboration, particularly in the fight against drug trafficking and other common security concerns.
Abdulaziz warmly welcomed Naqvi and his delegation, expressing the kingdom’s continued commitment to supporting Islamabad.
Naqvi, in return, highlighted the deep religious and brotherly ties between the two nations, saying: “Saudi Arabia has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times, and we deeply appreciate this enduring partnership.
The Pakistani delegation included Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, Director General of Passports and Immigration Mustafa Jamal Qazi and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Riffat Mukhtar Raja.
Senior Saudi officials, including Deputy Interior Minister Nasser Al-Dawood and Public Security Director General Mohammed Al-Bassami, were also present.
The leaders reiterated their determination to strengthen cooperation in counter-narcotics measures and other areas of mutual interest, thereby strengthening the historic and strategic partnership between the two countries.
Naqvi, who is visiting Saudi Arabia, previously visited the Saudi Arabia Safe City Center and Public Security Police Headquarters in Riyadh and examined the system equipped with modern technologies to prevent crimes .
He also held a meeting with Saudi Minister of State for Interior Khalid Mohammed Abdullah Al Battal, during which issues of mutual interest and Pak-Saudi relations were discussed.
During the meeting, the two countries also agreed to activate the joint task force at the earliest for public safety.
