In a major development, the administration of the Lahore City district rejected Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf on Thursday on Thursday to organize a public rally in Minar-E-Pakistan on February 8.

The sub-commissioner refused authorization invoking security reasons.

Development intervened while the former ruling party announced the marking of February 8 (Saturday) – first anniversary of the “rigged general elections” as “dark day”.

According to a statement published by the DC of Lahore, “the decision not to authorize the rally was made to maintain the situation of the law and the order”.

There are important events scheduled for Lahore on February 8, such as a cricket match, an international lecturer and a show of horse and livestock, added the DC.

The government official said thousands of security staff had already been deployed due to these events.

Earlier in the day, the High Court of Lahore (LHC) asked the deputy commissioner to decide at 5 p.m. at the request of PTI to hold a gathering in Minar-E-Pakistan.

Judge Farooq Haider published the directive while hearing a petition filed by the chief organizer of the PTI Punjab, Aliya Hamza, on February 3, requesting permission for the public meeting.

The former ruling party, following his negotiations with the government, announced rallies of protests against the polls in 2024 which, as well as other opposition parties, were again described for having been tainted with Truquage, causing an alleged theft of his mandate.
